About Internal Family Systems Therapy
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based psychotherapy model developed by Dr Richard Schwartz. IFS views the mind as naturally composed of "parts" — sub-personalities that carry burdens from past experiences — alongside a core "Self" that is compassionate and curious. In IFS therapy, the goal is not to eliminate parts but to help them unburden and work in harmony, led by the Self.
IFS is used to treat trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and a wide range of other concerns. It is recognised by SAMHSA's National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices and has a growing body of peer-reviewed research supporting its effectiveness.
