Accessibility Statement
Our Commitment
IFS App is committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim for compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA across all pages and features. We recognise that accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time task. This page honestly documents where we stand today, the known gaps we are working to address, and how you can report new issues to us.
We believe that everyone should be able to find and work with an IFS therapist, regardless of the technology they use or any disability they may have. Accessibility improvements are treated as first-class features, not optional extras.
Standards We Target
Our target standard is WCAG 2.2 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This covers four core principles: pages must be Perceivable (information presented in ways users can detect), Operable (interface components and navigation must be usable), Understandable (information and operation must be clear), and Robust (content must be interpreted reliably by assistive technologies). Where we fall short of AA, we note it below under Known Issues.
How We Have Tested
We carry out the following checks as part of our development and release process:
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements (links, buttons, form controls) are reachable and operable using only a keyboard. A visible skip-to-content link is provided on every page.
- Colour contrast: We use Lighthouse's automated contrast checks to verify that text meets the 4.5:1 minimum ratio against its background for normal text, and 3:1 for large text and graphical elements.
- Mobile and responsive design: Pages are tested at common viewport widths (320 px, 375 px, 768 px, 1280 px) to ensure content reflows correctly without horizontal scrolling.
- Semantic markup: Headings follow a logical hierarchy; form inputs have associated labels; images have descriptive alt text; landmark regions (header, main, footer) are used throughout.
- Automated audits: We run Lighthouse accessibility audits as part of our deployment pipeline to catch regressions early.
We have not yet conducted a formal audit with an independent accessibility specialist or end-to-end testing with assistive technologies such as NVDA or VoiceOver. We plan to commission such a review in the next twelve months.
Known Issues
We are transparent about accessibility gaps we are aware of and actively working on:
- Therapist directory map (drag operations): The interactive world map on the directory page allows panning via mouse drag. A keyboard alternative for this drag interaction is not yet implemented. Users can still browse therapists using the search filters and list view. A keyboard-accessible map alternative is planned for a future release (v1.x).
- Colour contrast on muted text: Some secondary and helper text rendered in muted grey tones may fall below the 4.5:1 contrast ratio on certain display themes or when system-level contrast adjustments are applied. We are auditing these cases and will update colour values to meet the minimum ratio.
- Third-party embeds: Embedded content from third-party services (including video or maps providers) may not fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA. We have limited control over these but will seek accessible alternatives where possible.
How to Report an Accessibility Barrier
If you encounter any barrier that prevents you from using our site, we want to hear from you. Please email us at hello@ifsapp.co.uk with the subject line Accessibility. Please include:
- The URL of the page where you encountered the issue
- A description of the barrier and what you were trying to do
- The assistive technology or browser you were using, if relevant
We aim to acknowledge your report within 2 working days and provide a substantive response within 5 working days. Where a technical fix is needed, we will give you an estimated timeline and offer an accessible alternative in the meantime.
Review Schedule
This accessibility statement was last reviewed on 28 May 2026. We review and update this statement at least once a year, and also following any significant changes to the site's structure or functionality. The next scheduled review is May 2027.
Compliance Status
IFS App is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This assessment is based on a self-evaluation and automated tooling. It has not yet been independently audited by a third-party accessibility specialist. We are committed to closing the gaps described above and will update this statement as we do so. If you believe we have mischaracterised any aspect of our conformance, please let us know at hello@ifsapp.co.uk.
